AALFNY supports the AABANY Pro Bono and Community Service Committee and its pro bono legal clinics in Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn. In 2024, the clinics assisted in giving advice and referrals to more than 350 clients in matters relating to housing, family law, employment, wills, trusts, and estates, and immigration. Here are some comments from the clients:
“I was so taken aback by the pro bono legal clinic, just the fact that there was one for an Asian community, that I’m looking forward to ways that I can get involved if I could perhaps just volunteer for this pro bono legal clinic. It was a very healing experience for me, just to be acknowledged and to receive proper legal advice.” said a victim of an assault.
“The lawyers [at the clinic] were very knowledgeable and clear in communicating the steps to be taken and what I could expect about the case updates. They were also professional and trustworthy.” commented one client who had been afraid of speaking with her own attorney.
“I had many questions and the attorney(s) were very nice and explained well. As a senior, I hope to live at home and maintain peace everyday. Thank you for your explanation.” wrote another client.
